Labor regulations stipulate that companies must provide individual lockers for their employees, especially in sectors where changing clothes is necessary, such as manufacturing, healthcare, and hospitality. According to Royal Decree 486\/1997 of April 14, Annex VA, section 2.2, changing rooms must always be equipped with individual lockers or cabinets with keys. It is not mandatory for these to be double lockers for storing footwear, although work clothes must be kept separate from street clothes in specific cases where this is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The law establishes two mandatory situations for the presence of a changing room in the workplace: in jobs where employees are exposed to Carcinogenic or Biological Agents, and in other sectors where the use of special clothing is necessary and it is not appropriate to change in other areas of the company for reasons of decorum or hygiene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Companies must provide changing rooms with lockers if the worker uses special clothing exclusively for work, needs to undress to put on work clothes for reasons of decorum, or if there is no other hygienic area in the company to change for hygiene reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Failure to comply with these regulations may result in fines ranging from 2,046 to 40,985 euros, depending on the severity determined by the sanctioning body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
